Star-Polis Insurance Company (Kiev), which received a license to carry out insurance activities on September 1, 2008, has been implementing a program to insure deposits in case of their untimely return since November 17, 2008. Both individuals and legal entities can be insured. Deposits placed in banks, credit unions and other financial institutions are subject to insurance protection. Konstantin Denisov, Chairman of the Management Board: "We do not insure deposits in case of bankruptcy of banking institutions. There is no point in this, since there is a Deposit Guarantee Fund for individuals, which is responsible to the depositor in this case. We want to protect depositors from, unfortunately, a real situation when for some reason he cannot receive his deposit in a timely manner. Having concluded an insurance contract, having paid the insurance premium (which is several percent of the deposit amount), the depositor receives the right to claim not only from the bank, but also from us, which doubles his chances of getting his money back, even in a financial crisis. I hope that this type of insurance will stimulate the return of funds to deposit accounts."
