In January-June 2017, ERV insured 319 thousand tourists traveling abroad and 42 thousand tourists traveling in Ukraine. During the first half of the year, the company registered 4,214 insurance cases worth UAH 24 million, of which 33 cases were in Ukraine. Compared to the same period last year, the number of tourists insured by the company increased by 44%, with those traveling abroad by 38% and those traveling in Ukraine by 53%.
The number of insurance cases involving tourists increased by 52% compared to the first half of 2016. The most frequent requests regarding insured events came from Turkey (37%).
In 95% of cases, tourists needed outpatient care. The average cost of an outpatient case abroad was 120 euros. In 152 cases (4%) tourists needed emergency inpatient treatment, the average cost of which was 1,790 euros. ERV also settled 8 cases that required the organization and payment of medical evacuation or repatriation of tourists. The average cost of such services for the company was 3,805 euros.
The largest amount of tourists' expenses, in the amount of the full insured amount of 30,000 euros, was covered by ERV in the case of a fatal heart attack in Switzerland.
