A green card is the same "auto insurance policy", but it is valid outside Ukraine. While the CPL protects liability within the country, an international policy is valid only abroad. Without it, you will not be allowed to leave Ukraine; this document is mandatory for traveling by your own transport. But does all transport need to be insured, or are there exceptions? Let's take a look at each one in turn:
Driver's liability insurance must be applied for almost any vehicle used for travel. The cost of the document largely depends on this. Let's consider an example of the cost of mandatory insurance for 15 days (this is the minimum period). Green card price:

Before seeking advice, you need to find out, perhaps there is already information about your case and you do not need to apply for a policy. For example, a Green Card is not required for the following transport: mopeds / scooters of various models, bicycles and electric bicycles.
It would seem that a motorcycle and a moped are very similar transport. So why is a Green Card required for the first, and not for the second? Mopeds and scooters are not required by law to be insured for departure and they will be allowed to pass without this document at the border. Because such transport has a small engine, a smaller wheel diameter. They do not accelerate to the same speed as motorcycles and do not pose a threat to cars.
What does this mean? Active tourism with a scooter or bicycle — will cost even less than by car. But as for comfort - a car is still the best option. Not too expensive, at the same time, you do not depend on weather conditions. You can take enough things, tents and various tourist equipment.
The Green Card is valid in all countries that are connected to Ukraine by border, which means buying a document for the above transport is mandatory. But you can choose a simplified version: for travel to Russia, Belarus and Moldova. Such insurance is much cheaper than with a coverage area in all European countries. You will not go further with it, so if you are going, for example, to visit Belarus and then go further, towards Europe - you need to take out full insurance for the entire system.
All this affects the cost of the document. And you can issue it both online — with the delivery of a paper document to your home or by mail. Or come to the office of the insurance company.
Before buying a document, study the information about how it should look. Also, information about the company you are going to contact. See if it is in the database of the Motor Transport Insurance Bureau of Ukraine. All companies that have a license and can legally issue a Green Card — must be in this database.
The form that you will be given must be filled out carefully (usually it is printed), not containing any stamps, blots, errors, crossed out characters. If the insurance representative made a mistake — he is obliged to fill out the document again.
There are three pages in the policy in total, on which the same information must be indicated. The third of them is taken by the agent, it remains with the company. The first cannot be given to anyone, and the second - give it to the injured driver if an accident occurs during the trip.
Before leaving - check the insurance in the MTIBU database by its number. Make sure that the document has been activated, the data and validity period are indicated correctly. It is better to find out about the error immediately and reissue the document than to discover the lack of insurance when you need it.
In addition to the Green Card, you may need a CASCO with extended validity abroad. This document is needed to insure not only liability, but also your own transport. If an accident occurs due to the driver's fault — you won't have to spend money on repairs.
Also, for complete safety, you need to take out travel insurance, study the rules of conduct on the roads in the country you are going to visit. And make sure that the car has all the necessary things. After such preparation — you can safely set off and enjoy the trip.
