Any vehicle with Ukrainian registration that crosses segments of the Ukrainian-Russian border that are not currently under Ukrainian control must provide the Russian regulatory authorities with a Ukrainian "Green Card" policy or a Russian MTPL policy.
As reported by the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine, such a decision was made at a meeting of the management committee of the Green Card Bureau, which was held on March 23-24.
The decision comes into effect on May 1, 2017.
The decision was made in order to avoid misunderstandings in connection with the use of fake "Green Cards" owners of vehicles registered in uncontrolled territories of the country.
At the request of MTIBU, all insurance companies of Ukraine - members of the Bureau reported that they do not carry out activities in the territory not controlled by Ukraine.
A similar interim decision adopted in 2016 allowed to stabilize the situation and reduce the use of fake "Green Cards" of Ukraine. Last year, from 40 to 50 cases of use of fake "Green Cards" of Ukraine in the territory of the Russian Federation were detected.
