The holiday season is in full swing, and Ukrainian tourists are en masse going on summer trips. In «KORIS Ukraine» note that compared to the spring period, the number of requests for medical assistance from abroad has increased almost 3 times.
To date, 905 requests for medical assistance from abroad have been accepted. Traditionally, the leaders of requests are countries of mass tourism - Bulgaria - 245, Turkey - 205, Egypt - 68.
«The main problem of mass tourism is that insurance is included in the package with the tour and often tourists do not even know which insurance company they are insured with, - reports Marina Pavlienko, manager for outbound travelers «KORIS Ukraine». - Therefore, it is very important to first familiarize yourself with the policy and insurance rules.
The second problem, according to the specialist, is that many tourists act independently, and not at all according to the procedure prescribed in the policy. As a result, the assisting company receives a notification of the insured event from the clinic or doctor, who may not be assistance partners. In such cases, the company cannot be sure that the insured has been provided with the necessary, qualified assistance.
The third problem is that the cost of treatment when directly contacting a doctor often significantly exceeds the standard one. Thus, in Turkey, the cost of treatment when a patient contacts a doctor independently can be 1.5 times higher, and in Bulgaria, due to the appointment of an excessive list of examinations, the cost can often increase by 2 times or more.
When traveling abroad, it is important to know in which cases the insurance is valid and in which it is not. For example, sunburn or allergic dermatitis are not covered by many insurance companies. But even in such situations, when the insurance company does not cover the costs of providing medical care, assistance can help with the organization and selection of a doctor or clinic.
