Office workers at Lloyd's of London have been strictly banned from drinking alcohol during their lunch break, and they see this as undermining corporate culture.
The management of the insurance company Lloyd's of London has introduced a strict "dry law" for the entire working day for its employees, promising violators large fines and other penalties. The reason for the adoption of the unpopular measure was an analytical report, according to which almost half of the cases of violation of office discipline were associated with the state of alcoholic intoxication of employees.
Insurers of one of the oldest London companies - the Lloyd's insurance company began work back in 1688 - are extremely outraged by the innovation: in the corporate chat they threaten a riot, assure that they drink alcohol "moderately and responsibly" and, in general, no one has consulted with them on how best to establish labor discipline.
The company's management understands that changing the habit of "lunchtime socialization" with a glass of beer will not be easy for employees, but is inexorable in its decision:
"The London financial market historically has a reputation as a place where people drink alcohol during the day, but everything is changing, and Lloyd's feels obliged to become a socially responsible employer and be guided by the principles of a healthy working environment. The alcohol-free policy that we implement in the company corresponds to the position of many other market players. Alcohol affects everyone differently, and a zero limit would be the simplest and most honest measure that will allow Lloyd's of London to follow the ideal of high culture in service. "
