Delays in insurance compensation payments often occur due to the need to conduct additional checks of the client's documents. The insurance company's security service checks the papers to avoid insurance fraud.
«An experienced employee of the insurance company's settlement department knows more than 15 criteria by which fraudulent actions can be identified. In the event that suspicions arise, even if all the documents are drawn up correctly, the settlement department transfers the case to the insurance company's security service. This is where serious checks begin and payment terms may be extended. But often the clients themselves make mistakes that force the insurance company to additionally check the documents, says the head of the Omega Insurance Company, Pavlo Karagayev.
In the event of a traffic accident, Karagayev advises to follow these tips.
- Be sure to take a photo of the accident scene. The photo should include all the cars involved in the accident, all the obstacles that need to be taken into account, road infrastructure objects, road signs, etc. Your photos should make it clear who was driving in which direction, whether they were braking, etc.
- Often, clients take photos of only their car or only the damage to it. Such photos are not enough and the cases are sent for additional verification to the Security Service. Many suspicions are aroused by statements like "the phone is dead, so there are no photos," or photos of a broken car taken in the garage a week after the accident. As a rule, these are the first signs of fraud. If you are not a fraudster - take as many photos as possible. We do not expect brilliant works of art - a few photos from which you can understand the picture of the accident are enough.
- Take photos of the documents that the police draw up when registering the accident. The Patrol Police Department has already allowed this. Take a photo of the accident diagram, explanations, and insurance policies of the participants. The more information the insurance company receives, the less doubts there are about the authenticity of the accident circumstances and the grounds for conducting special inspections. This means that the insurance company will quickly begin to prepare documents for insurance payments.
- Report the accident on time. Every third client violates the deadlines for contacting the Insurance Company regarding the accident, and then this leads to difficulties with payments. Remember: you must report the accident from the scene of the incident and follow the operator's instructions. Taking into account the circumstances of the accident, an emergency commissioner may be sent to you. Then, within 3 days, you must submit a written statement about the accident. If the client did not report the accident in a timely manner, the insurance company may suspect that he was drunk while driving.
