Based on the results of the work in the 3rd quarter of 2017, the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine gave the insurance company Inter-Polis» a «red» rating according to the indicator «Level of complaints from victims». According to the MTIBU methodology, this indicator is determined as the specific weight of complaints in relation to the number of settled cases.
Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Insurance Company «Inter-Polis» Stefan Sovinsky noted: «Perhaps such an indicator well assesses the activities of companies with a large portfolio of MTPL, but it is clearly incorrect for insurers with smaller volumes of payments from motor third-party liability insurance. So, in the third quarter, our company received 4 complaints, for two of which we made a compromise payment, the other two were recognized as unfounded. From my many years of experience, even with a small portfolio of OSCPV, there are always cases when the insurance company refuses to pay on legal grounds. Thus, having received even one complaint, a company with a small portfolio of OSCPV and, therefore, a small quarterly volume of settled cases, may receive an unsatisfactory assessment by the MTIBU. So we, having 2 complaints, are classified as a group of companies that dozens and hundreds of policyholders complain about. Such an incorrect assessment cannot objectively reflect the state of the OSCPV market.
Insurance company «Inter-Polis» calls on the Motor (Transport) Insurance Bureau of Ukraine to review the criteria for assessing the "Level of complaints from victims" for insurance companies with a small portfolio of MTPL, so that this assessment is objective and reflects the real state of the insurer.
