The OSCPV policy can be purchased online and carried with you on your smartphone. At the same time, it is not necessary to print it. You can also fill out a Europrotocol on your smartphone in the event of an accident. But, unlike the OSCPV, this document in electronic form is only suitable in some cases. Let's understand its capabilities:

When you can use the Europrotocol

Europrotocol — This is a form that is filled out by the accident participants immediately after the collision. Insurance payments depend on this protocol and compliance with all the rules when filling it out. The main advantage of filling it out yourself is that you don’t have to wait for the police or take a long time to figure it out. Just sign everything, send the document and wait for compensation.

The structure of the document is the same for all companies, its paper version can be taken at the office when purchasing the MTPL. And the electronic version can be filled out on the website of the Motor Transport Insurance Bureau of Ukraine. But the online version is not suitable for all road accidents.

The electronic Europrotocol can be used in situations when:

  • No one died, there were no injuries. No injuries or health complaints.
  • Only two cars collided on the road and both drivers agree on what happened. There are no discrepancies in the details and the culprit has been identified.
  • Both drivers can provide their MTPL policies.
  • The participants in the incident are sober, did not use drugs, and are in adequate condition.
  • The amount of damage does not exceed 50 thousand hryvnias or the culprit is ready to pay the difference out of his own pocket.

Also, to draw up an electronic Euro-protocol, you need a smartphone or tablet with a good camera and the Internet. You need the Internet to fill out the form on the MTIBU website. And the camera - because you need to take pictures of the car from all sides, driver's licenses, and technical passports for the car.

When not to use the Euro-protocol

There is no reason to choose a paper protocol instead of an online document. But there are situations when you still need to call the police instead.

This is necessary when:

  • The other driver is at fault for the accident, and he does not admit it.
  • Not only two cars were damaged during the collision, but also other cars on the road.
  • The other party has a license plate from another country / foreign insurance, you do not understand how to deal with it.
  • The culprit of the accident refuses to show the OSCPV or the document looks suspicious, it contains incorrect data / has expired.
  • The amount of damage exceeds 50 thousand hryvnias. It is important not to forget about this point — if you understand that repairs will cost more — you need to call the police. Because in the case of self-filling — the victim will be compensated, at most, 50 thousand hryvnias.

How to fill out the electronic version correctly

There is an electronic version of the Europrotocol on the official MTIBU page. It can be filled out directly on the website, from a phone / tablet / laptop. The form is no different from the paper one, except that this option is more accessible and convenient, and you can confirm the data with attached photos.

How to fill out the document on your phone:

  • Go to the MTIBU website, there is a link to fill out the online form. If you are filling out a similar document for the first time — there is a sample protocol on the website.
  • The system asks drivers to confirm that all conditions are suitable for self-registration. Select all options together: if the other driver writes everything on his smartphone — check the entered data.
  • Enter the numbers of your insurance policies so that the system can identify the participants in the incident. This way, you can immediately make sure that both insurances are valid.
  • All questions about the incident will be in the table, they must be filled out in detail and accurately.
  • Take a photo of your vehicle and the other driver's car from four sides.

After the drivers complete all the points - the registration will be completed, and copies of the protocol will be sent to their mail. Only after that can you leave the scene of the accident, until it is fully processed, as when calling the police - you cannot go anywhere or move anything.

What else is important to know about the Europrotocol:

The general rules of conduct on the road after an accident - differ little from those that must be followed in the event of a police call. If the collision is minor and no one was injured — then there is no reason to worry, everything can be resolved without haste. But if the other driver tries to unjustifiably blame you for the accident, insists on fraud, tries to enter incorrect data or threatens — call the police immediately.

What to do after the report is filled out and the copies are already in the mail? Drivers have the right to leave the scene of the accident without informing the police about what happened. As soon as you receive a copy of the document — send it to the insurance company from which you purchased the MTPL. You need to do this within three days, so do not delay. After that, you need to wait for compensation.
